MEET PAM WALKER
Pam Walker has lived in the City of Corning since July 1992.
Prior to moving to Corning, she was Chief Senior Planner for Brevard County, Florida. She also worked as a city planner for the City of Seal Beach, California and the City of Phoenix, Arizona.
She taught English at the Alternative School for Math and Science for fourteen years, until 2020, and served as a teaching assistant at Frederick Carder Elementary School before that.
Prior to teaching, Pam worked as a marketing communications consultant and as executive director of the Literacy Volunteers of the Central Southern Tier.
Throughout her time in Corning, Pam volunteered for a wide range of organizations, completing terms as moderator and treasurer of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Corning and on the boards of the Southeastern Steuben County Library, Habitat for Humanity, and the Child Care Center at Christ Church.
She has also volunteered as assistant cubmaster, troop committee chair, and day camp director for the Five Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America; president of the Carder Elementary School PTA; and president of the East High Band Boosters.
Pam earned her M.P.A. with a concentration in urban planning from Columbia University and her B.A. from Yale University.
She is married to Bob Walker, a retired engineer, and has two adult sons, Chris and Michael.
Pam has served on the City of Corning Planning Commission since 2019.
Pam currently Chairs the City of Corning Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, the committee charged with updating the plan for the first time in 20 years.
